Keeping Myself Safe: 4-9

Keeping Myself Safe for learners aged 4-9 is a programme for schools which explores personal safety issues affecting the lives of young children. Designed for most children at the Early and First Levels of their education, the programme is based around short animated stories presented by Flip the Fly, which address key aspects of personal safety.

  • Exploring the safety issues when children get separated from a parent or carer
  • Safety in the home
  • Safety when playing outside
  • Being able to recognise and deal with personal worries
  • Recognising differences between people and respecting these
  • Making friends and knowing how to deal with cyber bullying

Through discussion of the stories and by engaging in follow up activities, children develop awareness of safety issues and to learn how to keep themselves safe.  The programme contains a Teacher’s Guide and resources to support learning and teaching, including personal safety information and advice.
